Little Threads Sewing Studio is a cozy, creative sewing studio in Alfred, Maine, where children ages six and older can slow down, learn something new, and discover the joy of making things with their own hands.

Founded and taught by Ms. Melanie, Little Threads offers children’s sewing classes, camps, homeschool programs, special events, and magical birthday celebrations. The studio is filled with vintage charm, colorful fabric, welcoming traditions, and plenty of laughter. Children are encouraged to learn at their own pace, express their creativity, and feel proud of what they accomplish.

Ms. Melanie believes sewing is about much more than making a project. It builds confidence, patience, independence, friendships, and a wonderful sense of belonging.

Ms. Melanie’s niece, Ava, is an important part of Little Threads and a trusted assistant and creative partner. Ava is currently attending Saint Joseph’s College, where she is studying to become an elementary school teacher. She helps design projects, supports and encourages students, and brings her caring and thoughtful nature to the studio.

Little Threads is also fortunate to have special helpers who bring their own talents, personalities, and creativity to the studio. Some are past or current students, while others are friends of Little Threads who enjoy sewing, helping children, preparing projects, or simply adding a little extra happiness to the day. Together, they help make the studio the warm and welcoming place that it is.
